New Addition: Sacramento Union Trophy

First awarded in 1931, the Sacramento Union Trophy was awarded annually at the California State Model Airplane Contest for the Champion of the Outdoor Duration Flying Event – Hydroairplane.  Carl Rambo won the trophy at the last competition in 1941.  A close up of the trophy's engraving. It reads, "Sacramento Union Trophy/California State Champion/Airplane Model Contest/for/Outdoor Duration Flying/Event/Hydroairplane"

In the 1990s Carl, a founding member of the Oakland Cloud Dusters, gifted the trophy to the club for its use.  The Oakland Cloud Dusters awarded the trophy for a rubber ROW event for several years before voting to donate the trophy to the museum.

Bud Romak and Bill Vanderbeek of the Oakland Cloud Dusters present the trophy to Maria V. at the National Model Aviation Museum.

Thank you, Carl Rambo/Oakland Cloud Dusters for helping to grow the museum’s collection.
