4x a Grand Champion: Introduction

Meet Bob.

Robert K. Sifleet (Bob) has been modeling since 1945 (he was 6) and competing since 1951. He attended his first Nats in 1954, where he placed 6th in Class B Free Flight. Six years later, in 1960, he won Grand National Champion at the Nats– a title he repeated in 1962, 1966, and 1976. Accompanying the Grand National Champion title, he also won Open National Champion, and in 1976, Outdoor Free Flight National Champion.

In 1959, the same year he won the Mulvihill Trophy, he also was on the team that won the Team Championship (but he can’t quite remember who was on the team with him!).

This summer, the museum is highlighting Bob’s trophies and accomplishments from those years, as well as the Nats experiences in general. Visit the museum between now and Labor Day 2018 to see the trophies in person, or keep an eye out every Friday for a #SifleetFriday blog post contribution to our virtual exhibit.

Four trophies, ranging in size and design, all awarded as Open National Champion trophies.
