THE AMA FOUNDATION is excited to announce that an official opening date has been selected for the new and reimagined Hands-On Education Gallery within the National Model Aviation Museum! We can’t wait for you to see it!
The new Hands-On Education Gallery will open to the public on March 19, 2027, coinciding with the museum’s 2027 season opening date. We encourage you to plan a trip to Muncie, Indiana, to see and experience it for yourself!
On a local level, AMA and the AMA Foundation are thrilled for the reimagined Hands-On Education Gallery to become a resource that local schools, youth-focused organizations, and families can utilize. With a large focus on STEM education and how STEM principles translate into a variety of potential careers, we’re confident that this gallery and hands-on immersion will spark an interest in local youth, getting them excited about and invested in education, aviation, and their future studies.
With that being said, the improvements and additions to this gallery will not only impact the local community of Muncie. AMA’s Education department is hard at work developing educational programming to coincide with each new exhibit. The great part is that this new programming is being designed with our AMA clubs in mind. The Education department’s goal is to make this educational programming transferable, ensuring that it’s easy for AMA clubs to use for youth outreach at any club and/or community event(s) that they might host nationwide.
Additionally, any and all passions for flight that are sparked in youth who visit the new gallery will directly impact the future of our hobby. We’re confident that the reimagined Hands-On Education Gallery will go far to ensure that the next generation of aeromodelers is present, engaged, and enthralled.
To become involved, the AMA Foundation encourages you to consider leaving a gift to our Hands-On Gallery Fund. All donations to this fund will be put toward the sustainment, improvement, and growth of the reimagined gallery throughout the years.
If you’re interested in making an even larger impact, contact AMA Foundation Executive Director Steve Haston, whose contact information is listed in “Sources,” to learn more about naming opportunities throughout the reimagined gallery.
