#NatsHats: Two Trick Hats

Model Airplane News commented in November 1952 that, “Trick hats and repairs in the hangar are part and parcel of all Nationals.”
Trick hats indeed!  Look at what these two friends wore at the 1950 Nats.

Scanned from the Air Trails Nov. 1950 issue two young men wear pith helmets with windsocks, fake wings and other features.

And it looks like the tradition continues!  Have you seen Evan Turner’s hat this year?

Share a picture of your own personal shade by using the #NatsHats at the AMA’s Twitter account, or the museum’s Facebook.
