New Addition: Bryon Originals Mustang Parts

Thank you to everyone who responded to the museum’s call for help to locate parts for our Byron Originals P-51D that is under restoration.  There were too many people who offered advice to list individually, but Bill and Jean Backer, Michael E. Brown, and Lawrence “Larry” Weaver all donated parts to use for the restoration.  We now have multiple canopies (just in case!), landing gear and decal sheets.

We are still looking for a lower cowling; if you have one, please let Maria know at mariav@modelaircraft.org, or (765) 287-1256, ext 508.

  1. Hi,I am looking for a detailed drawing of the Byrons p51 landing gear.
My aviation class and I are in the process of restoring one. question, do they drop using gravity or are they pressurized down?

    1. Hi, Tom! What a great project! The landing gear are air driven for both up and down – like the robart system, but with plastic gear, not metal. We don’t have access to drawings of the gear, but there are some good build forums out there – one in particular on RC Universe where the museum director remembers someone had posted a pdf of the landing gear. Good luck!
