Orlando Helicopter Blowout

This past month the Education Department was lucky enough to attend Orlando Helicopter Blowout in Florida. The event was put on by The Orlando Radio Control Helicopter Society. This helicopter- only club has over 100 members who all helped participate in this years’ event. The event was held December 7-9 and featured an autorotation contest, night fly, and tons of flight demonstrations. The crowd enjoyed flight demos from Bert Kammerer, Nick Maxwell, Kyle Stacy, Bobby Watts, Matt Botos, JC Zankel and many others. Pilots from several different countries registered to fly at the event. Contest Directors Carey Shurley and James Cistola did a great job of keeping the Flight Line safe for all of the pilots and spectators. District V Vice President Jose Soto was on hand to answer questions and meet the pilots. Says, Jessy Symmes, AMA Coordinator of Educational Programs, “This was a great event and everyone should try to attend next year.” See video from the event below.
