Scenes from the 1967 Nats

There’s just a month until the 50th Anniversary of the 1967 National Model Airplane Championships, which were held at the Naval Air Station in Los Alamitos, CA.  We’re going to share some official U.S. Navy photographs pictures each week, until July 24-30, the anniversary dates of the event in 1967, when we’ll share a picture a day.

Learn more about the 1967 Nats in the July 2017 issue of Model Aviation.

    1. My home was in close proximity to Los Alamitos Station in 1967. My family wrote me about the event but I was on the other side of the world in a direct support rotor wing company. I was happy to return home a little worse for wear but alive. 1968 is when I fell in love with rc. Shortly I bought my Orbit tx & rx. I was on my way to fulfilling years of speedi e bult, comet dreams of controlling my little creations in the sky sans strings or burning cotton cord. How time flies.
