I started with one of these, my Dad gave me a high wing Cessna type model when I was about 10 years old. I could not get it to fly until some years later when a friend gave me a different prop I was airborn. This was my introduction to model flying and I will never forget the thrill of my first flight. My Dad had no interest in this sort of thing but he encouraged my passion, I now fly RC models but this would take pride of place as a memorial of of my youth and the support from my Dad.
The importance of the correct prop! It is great that your Dad encouraged you and you are still flying. Thank you for sharing!
My brother, Joe, gave me my first cox plane, which was a green version of this plane back in 1970 or 71. I loved flying it, and ended up replacing about every part on it over time, after mishaps. We ended up with maybe a dozen cox and testers planes, and kept the neighborhood kids amused. Great clean fun!
It does sound like great, clean fun. Thanks for sharing!
I have this plane for sale if you are interested. It is brand new and has never been taken out of the box.
