Villard Trophy Exhibit Complete

The exhibit celebrating the centennial of the first national model airplane competition is now complete at the National Model Aviation Museum.

The exhibit has the trophy in front and the panel behind. A black and white photograph of Henry Villard in the cockpit of a plane at the age of 12 is also on exhibit.

Exhibited with the Villard Trophy is an exhibit panel on the life of Henry S. Villard, on loan to us courtesy of the Allen Airways Flying Museum/Claudia and Willis Allen of La Jolla, CA.

The panel is beige and white with text to the left, and the inset documents to the right. One of the inset items is a large medallion from the 1910 Air Races. On loan from the Allen Airways Flyign Museum.

The panel contains several inset documents related to Villard’s life, including his Aero Club of America member card and a pencil drawing he did of a flying field in Naples, 1912.

Henry Villard's Aero Club of America card grants him use of their rooms for four weeks. On loan from the Allen Airways Flying Museum.
