The 1/40-scale RC Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft and Space Shuttle test models are going on another adventure. Next spring the models will be sent on loan to Space Center Houston to be displayed as part of their full-size shuttle/SCA exhibit featuring the original shuttle carrier aircraft. The exhibit will open in 2015, and the loan is planned to last for several years. Space Center Houston is the nonprofit official visitor center for NASA Johnson Space Center.
When you are in Muncie this summer, either for Nats, IRCHA, World Champs, or just to visit, make sure to see the 747 and shuttle test models exhibited in the Models at Work gallery before they head off to Texas. And, if your travels ever take you to Houston next year or beyond, be sure to check out the SCA exhibit at Space Center Houston. It’s guaranteed to be fascinating.
Nowhere on this page does it give an address(location?) for the museum. That might just be useful for those of us on vacation this summer. I hope it somewhere between Nevada and the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson.
The museum is located at the International Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, IN. Our address is:
5151 E. Memorial Drive
Muncie, IN 47302
Beginning July 7 and ending September 7 we are open seven days a week 9am to 4:30pm. You can find more information to plan your visit to the museum here: https://www.modelaircraft.org/museum/museuminfo/visitorinfo.aspx
While I’m not sure the route to Nevada from the Air Force Museum, we are an easy hour and a half drive from Dayton.
I hope you get the chance to visit!
