AMA continues to engage on several recent FCC proceedings that could have significant implications for model aviation, including proposals affecting the importation, marketing, and availability of UAS and critical components.
AMA representatives are currently in Washington, D.C., meeting with members of Congress, the Department of Defense, and other stakeholders to discuss these issues and their potential effects on recreational model aviation, education, small businesses, and the broader hobby industry.
These meetings are part of AMA’s continuing advocacy as the federal government considers changes that could reach well beyond advanced UAS systems and affect equipment and components commonly used throughout model aviation. AMA is working to ensure that policymakers understand those potential consequences and the need to appropriately distinguish traditional model aviation from other UAS operations and technologies.
AMA is also scheduled to participate in commercial and industry events across the country throughout the remainder of the year, providing additional opportunities to engage with businesses, manufacturers, retailers, and other stakeholders affected by these proceedings.
