The AMA is proud to announce our newest education partner: the Soaring Society of America (SSA). The SSA was formed in 1932 to foster and promote all phases of full-scale soaring or gliding, which is flying in a specially-designed plane that does not have an engine.

The SSA actively encourages involvement of youth in the sport. Student pilots who meet the right qualifications can fly solo starting at age 14! Some people choose to fly for fun while others prefer to join racing competitions Like the AMA, SSA also provides representation to Federal agencies to preserve access to airspace. Much of their work is done on a volunteer basis.

Interested in gliding? Through the FAST program, the curious can get an introductory lesson, flight time with an instructor and some other goodies for just $99. To learn more, visit www.letsgogliding.com. We are looking forward to being able to provide some great educational experiences through our new partnership!
