National Drone Safety Awareness Week 2021

By Rob Kurek

September 13-19, 2021, is National Drone Safety Awareness Week. AMA will participate in this important week that will include special videos, articles, and informational webinars hosted by the FAA and other supporters of the Know Before You Fly program.

This is the third annual National Drone Safety Awareness Week, which was launched in 2019 to promote safe unmanned aircraft flying. This year, the focus is on the recreational model aircraft flying community.

The AMA is an FAA-approved test administrator of The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST). The FAA’s goal is to partner with industries to provide TRUST and educational safety materials to recreational fliers.

AMA will host the following session about TRUST: Why and how the AMA supports TRUST for recreational pilots – National Drone Safety Awareness Week.

AMA’s strong safety record has stood the test of time since 1936. For a comprehensive look at how AMA promotes safe model aviation activity, check this out AMA Safety Programming | Academy of Model Aeronautics (modelaircraft.org).
