AMA’s February 2021 Club of the Month!

In 1963, a group of 15 dedicated modelers wanted a place where they could fly together. A place to gather regularly and enjoy the hobby. A place to call their own. Prince George’s RC Club was born that very year on a one-acre plot atop a hill in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The Club joined the AMA the very next year, beginning a partnership that would span 57 years and counting.

The quaint one-acre plot that gave Prince George’s RC Club its start quickly grew to over 1000 acres with a 2400 sq. foot runway by 1972. The original 15 had literally and figuratively paved the way for their membership pool, which now sits at over 200 members. EDF pioneer Bob Violett and pylon icon Cliff Telford are among those members proud to call Prince George’s RC Club their home.

Their relentless pursuit to grow the hobby they love is just one of many reasons they are AMA’s Club of the Month for February 2021!

  2. A well earned Award from the AMA. The dedication to the wide spectrum of flight activities within the hobby, dedication to the young aviation enthusiasts, and to the services provided by the AMA serves as the principle purpose of this club. Chic White, AMA #3R
