AMA Supports Purdue Aviation Day

The AMA Model Aviation Experience sponsored by Wing returned to Purdue Aviation Day April 11, 2026 to introduce the attendees to the wonderful world of model aviation.

AMA Chartered Club #1069,  The Lafayette Cloud Jockeys were on hand to help by providing a few aircraft to display, talk to people, and help with instruction on Real Flight simulators.

This event continues to be one of the busiest events in the Midwest for people wanting to get time on the sticks. AMA staff reported that people were waiting in line from the time the event started until the end of the day.

A lot of people showed interest in visiting the club for the chance to learn how to fly.

The Lafayette Cloud Jockeys were represented by their club president, Tom, along with two additional club members, all of whom helped manage the high level of interest.

Located just three miles from Purdue University Airport, the club is well-positioned for students and community members looking to get involved in model aviation locally. They brought club marketing materials and were highly effective in connecting with attendees, many of whom expressed strong interest in visiting the club to learn how to fly.

The club offers free membership for those 19 and under, creating an easy and accessible entry point for younger participants interested in the hobby.
