AMA Partners With Ball State University

A team of Ball State University (BSU) graduate students recently partnered with AMA to provide several multimedia projects.

These projects covered subjects including the AMA National Fun Fly (June 28-30), the National Model Aviation Museum, principles of flight, and the AMA International Aeromodeling Center (IAC) in Muncie, Indiana.

The students are part of the BSU Center for Emerging Media Design and Development

“I was excited when Ball State University’s Emerging Media Design and Development program decided to tackle a project for AMA as one of their 2024 projects. The team was certainly up for the task and brought a lot of energy and talent, and passion to the project. AMA now has some new tools in our toolbox to help introduce and educate the next generation of aeromodelers,” noted AMA Marketing Senior Director Mark Benson.

Over a 30-plus-year period, AMA has worked with BSU on several levels, including various projects, internships, and hiring dozens of graduates.

“We cannot overstate our gratitude to the BSU team for their exceptional work. Their dedication and creativity have resulted in an app that will significantly enhance the Fun Fly experience. The 2024 AMA National Fun Fly promises to be a celebration unlike any other, fostering a renewed spirit for our pilots and nurturing the next generation of aviators. The BSU team’s contribution will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in achieving this vision,” said AMA Foundation Director Steve Haston.

“Working with the AMA offers Ball State and the Center for Emerging Media Design and Development with a wonderful opportunity to provide meaningful learning experiences for our students. Through this project, they were able to practice what they have learned about Design Thinking, Transmedia Storytelling, and User Experience Design to a real-world project with a real-world audience. We are so grateful for this opportunity, and we hope people in Muncie and beyond enjoy what we have developed for the AMA Fun Fly,” said Jennifer Palilonis, Director, BSU Center for Emerging Media Design & Development.
