The 2023 Horizon RC Fest was held June 9 and 10 at Eli Field in Monticello, Illinois. The AMA Flight Simulator Experience was on hand to provide the attendees with some stick time on the RealFlight® Simulators.
Eli Field is Horizon Hobby’s field, home to designing and developing RC products. Eli Field is also home for the Monticello Model Masters AMA Chartered Club #4697. The venue includes a paved runway and shelter building for the fliers along with an RC ground track and area for Drone Racing. Eli Field is an active place even when it’s not hosting an event.
The event included a very busy flying schedule with a wide range of aircraft and some of the best pilots from around the world. The emcee did a great job keeping the audience informed of the action.
The attendees included families experiencing RC for the first time along with longtime RC hobbyists. One group of AMA members stopped by the AMA area to share that they were part of a club that recently celebrated 50 years as an AMA chartered club!
Attendees could register for the “how to” activities, which included Introductory RC flights and several RC ground activities. It was truly an everything-RC experience for all who attended.
