District V held Heli Fest on April 12th-14th in Statesboro Georgia. The event was hosted by Helen’s Hobbies at Prosser Field. Several pilots and spectators showed up to enjoy the beautiful weather and flying. The noon time demo flights were put on by AMA Youth Ambassador Nick Maxwell, Matt Botos, Andy Griffith, and Adam Facey. Several church and school groups stopped by the field to experience RC for the first time.
The new AMA Education Mobile RC Experience made its’ debut at the event. The 28ft traveling trailer includes five flight simulators inside and a video screen on the outside. It allows everyone to get in on the flying action at events. Members and spectators can join or renew their memberships right inside the trailer. It also offers the availability to provide make and take at many events.
The Prosser’s have worked hard to expand the field since the annual district event was held there in October. They have cleared more runway and planted golf course grass across the entire field. Blois and Helen Prosser offer a hospitality at their field that is like no other. It was a great event at a great field!
