Dare County Radio Control Flyers is a club that promotes radio control model aviation as a sport and recreational activity at the home of the Wright Brothers first flight, the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Recently earned their Silver Leader Status – Introductory Pilot Program, TAG Grant, Flying Site Improvement Grant, Community Outreach, and more.
The “club” has been around since 1983 but officially became an AMA chatter club in 1987 with 6-7 members. It has been in the same location ever since. Dare County provides the club with the land and it sits adjacent to a gun range and county municipal services. Currently has around 20 loyal members.
The runway is a 400′ x 75′ grass runway. They share bathroom facilities and a workshop with the gun range when needed. “Bring what you need” field.

Being near the “birthplace of aviation”, they participate in many community events: The First Flight Society,
Wright Brothers’ National Park, and the Dare County “Youth Aviation Day”. They also host Boy & Girl Scout events at their field and also participate in “National Model Aviation Day”.
They are proud of their community involvement and sharing the love of aviation.
