Jackson County solid waste director Ronda Powell was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Academy of Model Aeronautics for her on-going support of aero modeling.
Members of the local AMA utilize the Jackson County Landfill on Seaman Road, which is managed by Powell, to promote development of model aviation as a recognized sport and worthwhile recreational activity.
