Each year the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) hosts the mother of all airshows in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The show brings in over half a million EAA members and aviation enthusiasts from nearly 100 countries to what is known as EAA AirVenture at Wittman Regional Airport. More than 10,000 aircraft come flying into what becomes the busiest airport in the world for the week of AirVenture.
This year the AMA once again took advantage of AirVenture to meet with the FAA, DOT, EAA and other industry stakeholders. Our meetings included the FAA Deputy Administrator, FAA Chief Counsel, DOT Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs, FAA Flight Standards, and many others. Topics included U.S.C. 44809, the rules AMA members follow, as well as the forthcoming Advisory Circular 91-57C and remote ID implementation.
AMA appreciates the support and hospitality shown by EAA, they have truly been our closest ally in the fight to preserve model aviation. EAA AirVenture 2022 was a great success and AMA looks forward to participating again in 2023!
