National Security Experts Go Rogue For ‘Drone Smackdown’

This event started as trash talk between two contributors to a national security blog. They decided to host a drone “smackdown” to see if one guy’s machine could take down another.

Ben Wittes, architect of the event, is the founder of a national security blog called “Lawfare” and a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution. Paul Rosenzweig is the founder of Red Branch Consulting PLLC, a homeland security consulting company.

To a lot of people drones are no laughing matter… The founders of the smackdown say they appreciate these concerns; however, Mr. Wittes stated he thought it was important for the event to, “highlight the degree to which very powerful, very inexpensive robotic technologies are becoming available to anybody who wants them.”
