Michael Swift was known on the flying field for his great helicopter skills, his easy-going personality and as the guy who always wore flip-flops. Like many others, aeromodeling was more than a hobby for Mike, it was a true passion. When Mike passed away suddenly, his friends and family knew they wanted to celebrate his memory by helping others to get the bug as Mike did at a young age.
Ruth, Mike’s wife, and several friends decided the best way to honor him would be to support the AMA scholarship program by making donations in his memory. The program, which has provided over $800,000 in scholarships, goes to AMA youth members interested in pursuing science/technical careers. If you are interested in making a donation in memory of a loved one in your life, please contact the AMA development team at 800-435-9262 ext. 277 to learn more.
