FAI F5J World Championships Results – (1:28)
The FAI F5J World Championships for Electric Powered Thermal Duration Gliders took place in Córdoba, Argentina from March 2nd through March 8th. The United States placed top three in both the Junior Team and Individual Junior categories. With USA placing 2nd overall in Junior Team and John Bradley placing 1st in Junior Individual. Triple Tree Aerodrome Executive Director Robb Williams talks Joe Nall Week – (3:22)
Lee is joined by Triple Tree Aerodrome Executive Director Robb Williams for an in-depth interview about Joe Nall Week as well as several other events hosted by Triple Tree Aerodrome. Learn the backstory of how Triple Tree Aerodrome got its name and why their premiere event is named Joe Nall Week. Additionally, learn about the Aviation Centered Education (ACE) programs provided by Tripe Tree Aerodrome and the many ways they help promote both general aviation and model aviation among the youth.
AMA Air 10th Anniversary Clip – (30:34)
2025 serves as the 10th anniversary of AMA Air; to celebrate, Matt and Lee take a look back at clips from the show’s past. This month they take a look back at the guest-filled celebration of AMA Air’s 100th episode which originally aired back on August 14th, 2020.
Club of the Month – (36:14)
The Club of the Month for April is the Tuscarora R/C Flying Club located in Barnesville, PA. The club’s flying field is a 5-acre plot of land located inside the Tuscarora State Park. The club gets involved in its local community by working with youth groups and sponsoring charity events.
IFlyAMA Facebook Group – (37:55)
The IFlyAMA Facebook group is an online community for sharing useful tips, discussing model aviation news, and showing off your recent builds! A contest is held every month to determine the cover photo for the Facebook group. This month’s winning photo was submitted by Steve Labuta, who provided a photo of his “Sleek Twin” model which happens to also be a previous winner of AMA’s Build Month contest.
Model Aviation Magazine Feature – (39:32)
Matt showcases a feature that stood out to him from this month’s issue of Model Aviation Magazine. The article, written by Rob Gaynor, goes over the power of Junior Flight Programs, and how they can spark interest in aviation and create lifelong memories for the young pilots involved. EAA Build & Fly Program – (41:11)
Keeping the discussion on youth engagement going, Lee highlights the Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA) Build & Fly program, which works in partner with the AMA to engage EAA Young Eagles in building model aircraft to supplement their other general aviation activities at their local EAA chapters. Specifically, Lee gives a shout out to EAA Chapter 586, who recently held a very successful Build & Fly workshop for 17 youth members.
AMA Foundation Receives $140,000 IDDC Grant – (45:45)
In exciting news, the AMA Foundation was awarded a $140,000 grant from the Indiana Destination Development Corporation. The funds will go towards enhancements for the International Aeromodelling Center and the National Model Aviation Museum, helping to continue making the IAC a premiere destination for all AMA members and events.
