The Scott Air Force Base Airshow & STEM Expo was held May 13 – 14, 2023 at Scott Air Force Base in St. Clair County, Illinois. The event was free to the public and drew over 60,000 attendees. The show included several airshow performers, headlined by the Blue Angels!
The weather kept the Blue Angels from performing on Saturday and the Sunday forecast prompted them to move the Blue Angels to noon to make sure they were able to put on a show.
The STEM Expo had several exhibitors on hand, providing several family friendly activities, including AMA’s mobile experience simulator trailer, powered by Horizon Hobby.
The AMA experience not only provides an introduction to the world of Model Aviation, it is also an opportunity to talk about some of AMA’s STEM programming efforts and help connect those that are interested in learning more with the local AMA community. The flight simulators are fun, but they also provide an education in the fundamentals of flight along the way and help support AMA’s mission of promoting, developing, educating, advancement, and safeguarding of modeling activities.
The static display portion of the show included a wide range of aircraft, Including a 100-year-old Curtiss Jenny.
