Are Drones Valuable for Domestic Use?
A Follow-Up Piece to “Domestic Use of Drones? Bad Idea”
Michael Toscano, president of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle; systems International recently submitted an platform opinion piece to USA Today, published June 5 to comment on an article submitted earlier in the week regarding domestic use of drones.
In his piece he lists the many areas that he feels UAS will serve the public. He believes that domestic use of these vehicles could save time, money and in some cases the lives of civilians.
A dialogue has been opened between privacy advocates, the pilot community, the Federal Aviation Administration and stakeholders. “The more we work together to ensure a safe and responsible integration, the faster we can unlock the incredible potential of this technology,” states Toscano.
The Academy of Model Aeronautics continues to monitor this situation on a regular basis, and will continue to update members on any progress made.
