AMA engaging with communities about responsible and safe UAS practices
On April 25, 2013 AMA facilitated a meeting with the Ball State University (BSU) Department of Journalism and the Delaware County Emergency Management Agency (DCEMA). The meeting was focused on the integration of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) into journalism curriculum as it relates to newsgathering and news storytelling as well as how UAS technology can benefit the public safety arena in a safe and responsible manner.
Through this discussion it was reaffirmed that the missions of each of these entities is closely linked and that all can benefit from a cooperative relationship. This meeting was just the beginning of what is expected to become an ongoing dialogue and between AMA, BSU, and DCEMA as all parties contemplate the safe, responsible, and effective use of UAS.
