NEWARK — On the last Wednesday of every month the sky above the Licking County Radio Control Club’s Flying Field is filled with the whir of radio controlled aircrafts.

Brightly colored planes and helicopters soar through the air. With the flick of a switch on a remote control, pilots on the ground can send them into loops and spins.

The group is celebrating its 50-year anniversary Sunday with an open house where the public will be able to watch demonstrations and fly planes themselves.
