10 years of flying celebrated by the Coachella Valley Club

Memorial Day weekend proved to be a great flying weekend for many clubs and AMA members. The Coachella Valley Radio Control Club took advantage of great weather by celebrating the tenth anniversary of their model airpark at Avenue 54 and Pierce Street in Thermal, California.

Their celebration was truly warranted, the club’s 190 members and several outside donors came together to raise $165,000,  needed to level and pave the 665-foot-long landing strip and build the shaded patio

AMA District X Vice President Lawrence Tougas stopped by to join in the celebration. “This is one of the finest facilities we have, a real jewel for the Coachella Valley,” Tougas said.

The club’s celebration is featured in The Dessert Sun, in an article written by Sherry Barkas. Read this story.
