AMA Blog Policy
The Academy of Model Aeronautics, Inc. is a family-oriented organization, and the blogs are “G” rated.
The AMA Blogs are an official communications outlet for the Academy of Model Aeronautics. They are open to all AMA members and anyone with an interest in model aviation. Blog posts are sometimes aggregated from other sources, as noted in the blog entries. Be advised, that although we hope you find the blogs to be a useful resource, we are in no position to review every post for accuracy. While we may respond to comments, the Academy of Model Aeronautics makes no warranties or claims regarding the validity of any information posted by users. The information or opinions contained in any posts or comments are solely those of the person who made the post or comment. In light of this limitation, please be advised that the use of any information on the blogs is at your own risk.
General Blog Rules:
First and last name required for approval of blog comments.
Advertising, spamming or trolling is not allowed. This includes comments and/or replying directly to other user’s comments. There will be ZERO tolerance for spamming; spammers will be banned immediately and permanently.
Do not link to any site that contains adult content, sexually oriented material, or might otherwise be considered offensive. Any post containing an inappropriate link will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning. Please remember that this is an international blog and be aware that what may not be considered offensive in your culture may be offensive to people of another culture.
Offensive language or personal attacks are not permitted. We will not tolerate rudeness or personal attacks, or the use of any obscene, indecent, vulgar, or offensive language. Our decision is final in these matters. Masked vulgarity is using curse words and trying to “mask” them with other symbols or letters, so that the word isn’t spelled out. Comments of this nature will be removed.
No discussions about illegal activities.
Respect the copyrights of other people, websites, software and printed media.
Posts soliciting or advertising events, items or businesses, which include phone numbers, websites, buy/sell items, spam, etc., will be removed.
Addresses, phone numbers (fax, pager, etc.), and other private information does not belong on the blogs. The only exception to this rule is contact information for legitimate resources and nonprofit organizations. Keep things positive. Even if you’ve decided you don’t like the topic or a particular person, at least respect his/her opinion. Negative comments will be removed.
Hello from Seattle. My name is Jean Brooke McGarah and I am the widow of Dr, Ralph Brooke, the man who flew his model airplane in two world championships, 1963 and 1965, and won them both! I am now 87 years old, living in my own home in Seattle, with fond memories of the trips to the contests which Ralph won. I have photos which might be of interest to you, and would be happy to speak with someone who might have known my husband during his model flying years. He was diabetic, and succumbed to the disease much too early; but did practice Dentistry very successfully before he went blind , and was always interested in developments in the model aviation world! I believe he was an early member of the RAMS.
Thank you for your time,
Jean Brooke McGarah 3431 South 194th St. SeaTac. Washington, 98188
