AMA wishes to express its deepest sympathy to the family of Jeromy Smith, of Rosamond, California, following an aviation accident on June 15 at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Jeromy, age 32, was one of eight crew members onboard a B-52 Stratofortress that crashed shortly after takeoff. There were no survivors.

Jeromy was a flight test engineer for the 419th Flight Test Squadron.
“We are saddened by the loss of AMA member Jeromy Smith, who tragically passed away alongside seven of his crewmates. Jeromy’s passion for flight extended from our modeling fields to his crucial work as a flight test engineer for the Department of Defense,” said AMA Executive Director Tyler Dobbs. “He will be dearly missed by our community. AMA extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fellow team members in the 419th Flight Test Squadron.”
Jeromy is survived by his wife and two children, ages 2 years and 4 months. A GoFundMe has been started for his family.
The accident is under investigation.
