The Casa Grande RC Flyers, and Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) award-winning club and airfield, will hold its 11th annual air show on Saturday March 8, 2025, at their airfield located at 2725 S. Isom Road in Casa Grande. This year’s air show will benefit the Hospice Charitable Fund of Central Arizona. Admission and parking at the event are free; however, representatives from the hospice will be at the gate accepting donations from those who wish to support this worthwhile charity. A donation is not required to enjoy this exciting event.
The air show will highlight the flying skills of the club members who will demonstrate their flying skills, which will include 3D flying and aerial acrobatic flying. The club also expects to hold two contests, airplane combat and a glider contest, that morning. Airplane combat is where pilots attach 20-foot-long crepe paper ribbons to their aircraft tails and the other pilots try to “cut” the ribbons with the propeller of their aircraft. The last airplane flying is the winner.
During the event, the club will also hold a swap meet where many radio control items will be available including radio-controlled aircraft, cars, and parts. People come from across the valley to attend the swap meet and to sell their items. Anyone is welcome to sell at the swap meet; however, non-Casa Grande club members must pay a small “table” fee to sell during the event. Any AMA member can fly during the air show provided they bring and present their current AMA membership card. Again, non-Casa Grande club members are required to pay a small “guest” fee to fly at the club’s award-winning airfield. There will also be a raffle of wonderful prizes at the event.
Breakfast items and snacks will be available that morning provided by the Pets in Need Action League. The organization will use the money raised from the sale of those items to pay for free and low-cost pet medical services throughout the area.
The Casa Grande RC Flyers is an Arizona non-profit corporation dedicated to raising money for area charities.
