Every year the Academy of Model Aeronautics gives away scholarship funds to help modelers further their education. The number of applicants this year (49) was a significant increase as compared with previous years, and the competition for the top awards was extremely rigorous.
The 2014 AMA Scholarship winners and their awards are as follows:
1.) Eric Gilkey – $6,000 from the Charles Hampton Grant & $1,000 from the Weak Signals club = $7,000
2.) Joshua Gaus- $5,500 from the Charles Hampton Grant & $500 from the Weak Signals club = $6,000
3.) Kevin Demauro – $4,500 from the Charles Hampton Grant & $500 from the Weak Signals club = $5,000
4.) Nathaniel Jones- $4,500 from the Charles Hampton Grant
5.) Jason Plummer – $4,000 from the Charles Hampton Grant
6.) Grant Conery – $3,000from the Charles Hampton Grant
7.) Royce Chung – $2,000 from the Charles Hampton Grant & $5,000 for the Telford Award = $7,000
8.) Gary Cooper – $2,000 from the Charles Hampton Grant
9.) Charles Wright – $2,000 from the Charles Hampton Grant
The Dorothy and Basil Cooper Memorial Scholarship ($500) is awarded to Cale Speiser.
