2017 Club Charter Renewal

The renewal season has begun. All club charter renewals were mailed last month to the club officer designated as your club contact. If you are the contact officer and you did not yet receive the 2017 renewal package, please contact us via telephone at (765) 287-1256 or email us at clubs@modelaircraft.org!

Keep in mind that during the rechartering season—generally February through April—we experience a high call volume. If you call us and are transferred to voice mail, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.

Note: Your current charter status, as well as the insurance for your site owner, is in effect until March 31!

  1. I called AMA several months ago regarding our club’s charter. Apparently no one has sent in charter information for several years. My name is listed as the club contact person and I’m willing to do it again. The club is Oakland Cloud Dusters and our club number is 137. Please send the charter renewal package to me. My address is 5303 Calderwood Lane, San Jose, CA 95118.

  2. Any plans to let us renew online? It really would cut my paperwork as the Club Contact / Secretary. Might save the organization a few bucks

  3. We have two clubs in our area. We would like to combine them ending up with one club with two flying sites.
-Is this possible and if so what would be the procedure?
-Can we rename the new combination? If so, how?
Thanks very much for your help.

    1. Hi Fred,
You can combine both clubs into one using a new club name. You will need to submit the charter documents that can be found in the Club Charter Guide document #905 on our website. We will issue the new club number when we receive all of the proper documents. Both clubs will need to provide in writing that they are disbanding their current charters. Please include the by-laws for the new club.
Let me know if you have any questions. You can email me at loism@modelaircraft.org or phone, 765-287-1256 ext. 291.

  5. What should I do if there is no place to check renew for one of our insurance certificates?

    Thank you

    1. Hi Barry, sorry for the inconvenience. Sounds like there was glitch when we issued the renewal form. Merely write “renew” next to the information.

  6. I am the club president and club contact for club 4280 “Medina Valley Flyers” in TX. I have been President and club contact since last summer and have never had to deal with renewing the club charter so thankfully I just wondered when it was due as nothing has been sent to me. I get the monthly club email updates so I know I’m listed correctly as the POC.
I really have to ask. Where does all the money go that we send to the AMA that we can’t get this important process automated and renew online just like the memberships? Anyhow, I need a package sent to me ASAP. You have my info. Thanks.

    1. We just sent the club charter renewal to your email. Please let us know if you did not receive it. We tried reaching out to club officers by mentioning club charter renewals in AMA Today, as well as the Ground Control. Please let us know if you are not receiving these newsletters.
