Freedom from Drone Surveillance Act

Synopsis:

Provides that a law enforcement agency may not use a drone to gather information. Exceptions provided for, 1) counter a high risk of a terrorist attack, 2) if LE first obtains a search warrant, 3) if swift action is needed to prevent imminent harm to life or serious damage to property. LE may not own or use a drone that is equipped with any kind of lethal or non-lethal weapon.

“Model Aircraft as defined in the Federal Aviation Administration Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 [PL 112-95, Sec. 336(c)] are excluded from the provisions of this Bill/Statute”
