It’s December. Wow, where has the year gone? For some of our clubs, flying season has slowed while others continue to go strong. For the Safety and Member Benefits department at AMA Headquarters, it means the club renewal season is fast approaching.
All current club officers should have received an email in mid-November with information on how clubs can lock in the current charter renewal rates before the rate increase on January 1, 2016. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity! We will need to receive your renewal request and payment by December 31, 2015. If we have not received your renewal by the deadline, we will mail a charter renewal packet to your designated contact officer in mid-January.
Many clubs hold their elections at the end of the year. If you recently had an election, or have an upcoming one, please make sure you submit those officer changes to us in writing as soon as possible. It is important that we maintain current information in our files. This allows us to know who is authorized to make changes or submit requests on behalf of your club.

As the new President of our club, my hope is that we can attract more younger people to our sport. We live in an area where we haven’t had a lot of luck attracting younger people to flying but I am determined to get access to our schools and show young people how rewarding flight can be.
Don Storing, ALPS, Gaylord, MI
Don, thank you for your comment and your willigness to reach out to the next generation and share this wonderful sport with them. If you haven’t already done so, you may want to contact AMA’s education department for materials you could use to reach out to the schools. You can email them at education@modelaircraft.org.

Racine R.C.Club #0668 has reelected all current officers for the following year, 2016.
Please include me in your future AMA Clubs Blog so that I can respond as treasurer and secretary promptly.
The AMA Clubs Blog looks like a huge step in communicating with the AMA Club Officers and putting a “face” we can interact with. This is the best thing I’ve seen since being able to meet all the AMA officer at Joe Noll last Spring. Three cheers!
Hi Bill, thank you for your kind words. Club officers will automatically receive future issues of Ground Control, which will link any club related items to the AMA Clubs blog.
