Louis Mattes IV, known as Louie, loves to fly radio-controlled airplanes and is the youngest member of the South Park Area Radio Kontrol Society, known as SPARKS.
The fascination of flying the radio-controlled plane is easy to explain, even for someone 11 years old.
“It’s just (having a plane) in the air and in control of whatever you want to do,” he said.
Louie flew his first plane when he was about 4 years old and became enamored with the sport from his father, Louis Mattes III, who flew similar planes in the 1970s and early 1980s, Louie said.
