“It’s going to be a dynamite facility,” says Gerard DeLong, president of the Mesilla Valley Model Airplane Club (MVMAC). “We’re hoping, with the new field, that we’ll be able to possibly sponsor some national activities with the national organization, Academy of Model Aeronautics.”<\/p>\n

What was once the final destination for waste disposal \u2014 the old Foothills Landfill at 555 S. Sonoma Ranch Blvd. \u2014 will soon be the site of a park for model airplane enthusiasts to soar their carefully crafted creations. The model airplane park is under construction now; an archery range is also being planned. Both should be up and running by late this fall.<\/p>\n
