in the library"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The case:\u00a0 Identify a book discussing building and flying model aeroplanes.\u00a0 The information and drawings in the book refer to tractor monoplanes and strip rubber, and doesn\u2019t make any mention of balsa wood.\u00a0 Unfortunately, the cover and title pages are missing so other than obvious age, there is little information to go on.\u00a0 The only information, really, is a preface note which says the author is well-known in the modeling world, and the words \u201cModel Aeroplanes\u201d appearing on every other page.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amablog-modelaircraft-org.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2012\/10\/cammmodelaeroplanesprefaceau.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" client: A retired air traffic controller and longtime aircraft modeler from Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The search: Using \u201cModel Aeroplanes\u201d as the starting point, I searched the museum\u2019s library database for books with that phrase in the title.\u00a0 Several turned up.\u00a0 Luckily, it was the work of only a few minutes to find a book that matched the preface and other pages of the mystery book.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amablog-modelaircraft-org.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2012\/10\/cammmodelaeroplanespreface.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" The Building of Model Monoplanes, Biplanes, etc., together with a Chapter on Building a Model Airship<\/em> by F.J.
