This annual outreach initiative focuses on promoting safe and responsible operation of unmanned aircraft and increasing public awareness of airspace rules. The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) has supported these safe and responsible operations for 90 years through our gold standard Safety programming and a culture that emphasizes preparation, accountability, and respect for the national airspace system.

In communities across the country, AMA members put these same values into practice every day as volunteer safety officers, contest directors, introductory pilot instructors, and mentors who help new pilots learn to operate safely and responsibly. These efforts are further strengthened through AMA educational partnerships with school systems, community programs, and Civil Air Patrol unit partnerships. AMA also contributes directly to national safety discussions through representation on the FAA Drone Safety Team and related outreach efforts.

FAA Drone Safety Day serves as a useful reminder that safe flight operations depend not only on experience and safety rules, but on education, mentorship, and consistent good habits. AMA remains proud of the role our members, clubs, and our organization continue to play in advancing those goals nationwide.

To remain current with the most recent government-related news, regularly visit the AMA Government Affairs blog.
