{"id":7886,"date":"2025-12-22T12:40:45","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T16:40:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amablog.modelaircraft.org\/amagov\/?p=7886"},"modified":"2025-12-22T12:40:47","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T16:40:47","slug":"h-r-6460-full-markup-committee-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amablog.modelaircraft.org\/amagov\/2025\/12\/22\/h-r-6460-full-markup-committee-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"H.R. 6460  &#8211; Full Markup Committee Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Thursday, December 18, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure held a&nbsp;Full Committee Markup meeting to hear several legislation&nbsp;proposals&nbsp;for comments and markup before they go to the floor of the House of Representatives for a vote.&nbsp;Among the resolutions considered was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ama%20advocacy%20in%20action:%20H.R.%206460\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">H.R. 6460,<\/a>&nbsp;which has been championed by AMA&nbsp;because&nbsp;we work with Congress to reduce restrictions and increase flexibility of operations for&nbsp;our&nbsp;community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Committee&nbsp;Chairman&nbsp;Sam Graves (MS)&nbsp;and&nbsp;Ranking&nbsp;Member&nbsp;Rick&nbsp;Larson&nbsp;(WA)&nbsp;gave&nbsp;a brief introduction&nbsp;of the resolution, emphasizing&nbsp;the importance of recreational model aviation as a hobby&nbsp;and&nbsp;an&nbsp;educational tool&nbsp;before turning the floor to the&nbsp;bill\u2019s sponsor,&nbsp;Representative Tracey Mann (KS).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representative Mann\u00a0spoke\u00a0about\u00a0AMA\u2019s dedication to safety focused model aviation,\u00a0the\u00a0importance of\u00a0maintaining\u00a0and growing interest in model aviation,\u00a0and how\u00a0H.R. 6460\u00a0corrects\u00a0previous\u00a0legislation errors, reducing confusion on operating rules within certain areas of Class E.\u00a0His comments can be viewed in the video below.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"HR 6460 Recreational Drone Empowerment Act | AMA\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LDJQl6kwcrM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>H.R. 6460 was then opened to the floor for amendments, where&nbsp;it received none and passed the committee.&nbsp;The final day in which congressional offices were open before going on recess for the holiday season&nbsp;was December 18; It is expected that the resolution&nbsp;will be called for a vote on the House floor&nbsp;after&nbsp;Representatives return in 2026. AMA Executive Director&nbsp;Tyler Dobbs was present at the hearing to&nbsp;represent&nbsp;AMA.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the resolution passes the&nbsp;House, it will still need to&nbsp;pass the Senate\u2019s proceedings before being signed into law by the President.&nbsp;&nbsp;AMA would like to thank the bill\u2019s sponsor,&nbsp;Representative&nbsp;Mann, and&nbsp;the&nbsp;co-sponsor,&nbsp;Representative&nbsp;Sharice Davids (KS), as well as Committee&nbsp;Chairman&nbsp;Sam Graves and Ranking Member Rick Larson for their attention and support of this important matter.
