Below is an updated guided walkthrough for registering and renewing your FAA registration on the updated site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. To Register<\/strong>:<br>Go to<a href=\"https:\/\/faadronezone.faa.gov\/#\/\"> faadronezone.faa.gov<\/a>. When you are on the webpage, select the <strong>Create Your Account<\/strong> link in the box that says <strong>Register Your Drone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"624\" height=\"311\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/_Pbxjnu2fV9DKpRQs9A6wAsop1B4AenX0HXPNqpSbabk44F_zxxGEmdGHLcIpGwZvLFh7wfiCwYgMXEobP7AmLkQV_rh9I7BAMOk1ICLXqGFqIyzYNHW3IrK-fcyCOxg_Nx285nUAztBh0JtxwpoacU\"><br><strong><em>Note:<\/em><\/strong> <em>You do not need to register your aircraft if it is under .55 lbs (250 grams).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To Renew<\/strong>:<br>Go to<a href=\"https:\/\/faadronezone.faa.gov\/#\/\"> faadronezone.faa.gov<\/a>. When you are on the webpage, find the Account Log In box and enter your email and password. Once logged in, skip to step 6.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/y5i-e3jxVjBQyiCgJLIS5wUKbkO-pOVXYilXcH5SveGLnyFRam3lBud-iV7yCweCJbZefwMmuTO2VSQX9wWQ7dgBnAcdulych3JE1ZymiZKZyejeJeYUwvXDrc8qoWtg0xEqU8rPNHPvqOpAySxdMR0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>*Note: The FAA uses the term \u2018drone\u2019 to address all UAS, including model aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. A box will pop up about an <strong>FAADroneZone System Use Notice<\/strong>. Click on the <strong>I Agree<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/GZVhpIjrsaXj4WES6F6cYvwumSzqbBCZ1qk6raIuHCowB-Bnn9GVBGsRREpZ3DgBNTKSjz1yMCwAtQrrwrk2CR3kf-Db5v90zkRdgrHHdapXjFzv0z1GQCvLY5oRsGI_EifCtH_Z8m-BnaRo089fFOk\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>3. You will be asked to create an account. Enter your information into the required boxes and select the <strong>Create Account<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/7jG0-msJY78sw0FvMrDSXoORDREUURD05lWLMy_kHyL81APMTAFIm27v4hkvgs0gor0_m9gSohxZZUfqyQfNauKGCWmnVfg6E9bUyrc3kzbzL3RKR6wizu3PpB6VWHgKoJ9OBFj4OQMBgSJ4MqM7zxY\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>4. A verification email will be sent to the email account you entered. It will look similar to the image below. Click on the box that says<strong> Verify Account<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*Note: You may need to check your spam folder for the email.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/VwtDrOIGJj6G_beelyNndtA0deHXdAPyBrH4VEum_f7y4souv8v16j4MU9EuNHeJ6EQBon-m7Vuc8re5_lMnD68EiRi_ZxDKXdJcyrdra09OKdKchWJl-1iPpUQtuk5eSJFZbf9zg22S0yaa0JV1Kfg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>You will be brought back to the DroneZone. Your account is now verified. Once logged in, you will be brought to the <strong>FAADroneZone Services<\/strong> page. Your screen should now look like the below image. You will be brought to your <strong>Recreational Flyer Profile<\/strong>. Enter your information and then scroll down to select the <strong>Proceed to Checkout<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/Cnqcdt5fLEEsjbgstf_3QyV9rXgiQm8XZx-FNplxkpCUbhsRmzHxcFPB3jyzrr8NFu-oopvmF4UbG3hBVqbvE8FIcwVg7CogxH6p-imtKwRudIynheA6rhW7Ua5es8av1gJAPYv67sjiln8FRpommWw\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>9. Next, you will be asked to accept the Recreational Flyer safety guidelines. Select the box indicating you have read and understand the safety guidelines, then select the <strong>Next <\/strong>button.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/GM--xYw-MatO__6F02ak0tN77WG0ogIGNhhjBiDUK1BJwgm-SASpsOkqdFI3vJlmDgqcqOJPES851pAMuMto_Xy5U99yC1XrcNrUvMb79sghfx7Zn1mMHaRWAHwmQhZvDdk2EZQ0w9g8oOhzmO4oVLc\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>10. Then, you will need to add at least one device (model aircraft) to your inventory to continue. This is a new update to the registration process the FAA has added to be compliant with the upcoming Remote ID requirements. Select the <strong>Add Device<\/strong> button in the top right of the screen.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/SCC84BDgV66NHPvMNiHvUxwQ-NDeJnyl75JzyEL65f8tSbJY7uUJgHTIRlxO83sV0YvPQwCkU5R6qk8PvhYZgDzWBEa9cMV_NedFzvb50vsY180wv0HTQ0IuD2mPgbGN1Fx_HePi68VBS3EBREhOUZE\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>A pop-up will appear on your screen. If you are complying with Remote ID by flying at a FRIA approved site, in the box asking if your device is equipped with Remote ID capabilities, select <strong>No<\/strong>. If you are using a Remote ID module to comply, you will need to select <strong>Yes<\/strong> and enter the serial number of the module in the box asking for a serial number.  (Remote ID is currently required but will not be enforced until <strong>March 16, 2024<\/strong>. For <strong>Serial Number<\/strong>, leave the box blank and select the box to the right that states <strong>Serial Number Not Applicable<\/strong>. (The serial number is for the Remote ID module, not the aircraft.)<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/h6_nFGFj75iwk7aE9FNpS1zhM6-JsyOjemEdv-rWo8XHFWujbhefwiUqUxQlNJEBkshQKG3J_T0dHqZOEmBSir4JVto_BsMriFGGS7UQk55MaqzYAed8KMqXARlIls96Lm8QK8rx5aW-cB2WWInLPNU\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t know the manufacturer or if you built your aircraft, select <strong>Homebuilt UAS<\/strong>. For <strong>Manufacturer<\/strong>, list yourself. For <strong>Serial Number<\/strong>, leave the box blank and select the box to the right that reads <strong>Serial Number Not Applicable<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/Lk7y9VEdbwE6eOi5g1-b2dwXdwP78B0R9rbFT02HeX_IT8cUm6_cS0v6KBL_kItJxvgLaIBqz-kAWYPaLTfV9Yw9yLBR3e2x_SC2RlYY0mJ9ZvUSb-vIeLG2Q4s152xn0rFkqZeCZZ7YH1aBPsIaH4k\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Next, the<strong> Nickname<\/strong> field is not required, but you can type anything in the box to help you identify which aircraft is which, especially if you have multiple aircraft. An example is below:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/dUJ8IleC4D1uDdEY0nhUPaK9t_kRb8hzJo983Qfx1OpXiMuZt9qFIi1_IAA7LM84CTgd3KPa95F6mSLnWjOsxXMY9L31IcrLu_GpeN7snUgwIu63red-dKvVnWBHPCrrmhZCRh_Bf80gouArFEpmMOI\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Then, enter the <strong>Model <\/strong>of your aircraft. You can go through the process again and add as many devices as you would like, but this is not required at this time. <strong>There is no fee<\/strong>. You will be asked to fill out your payment information. Finally, you will be asked to review your information. <strong>Make sure you are only being charged $5.00. This number should be displayed on the outside of your aircraft.
