Las Vegas… On August 7th, FAA Acting Administrator Michael Huerta was the keynote speaker at the opening session of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) 2012 North America Conference. During his remarks Mr. Huerta assured the AUVSI membership that the FAA will meet its goal to \u201csafely and efficiently integrate unmanned systems into our airspace\u201d.<\/p>\n
Though he admitted,\u00a0\u201cIntegrating UAS presents significant challenges\u201d, and stated \u201cBuilding human consensus on a path forward for our aviation system is an equally important task\u201d; Mr. Huerta promised that the FAA will \u201cfulfill its statutory obligations to integrate UAS\u201d. The FAA will do so in a \u201cthoughtful, careful manner that ensures safety, addresses privacy concerns and promotes economic growth\u201d, and by \u201clistening to everyone\u2019s concerns and appreciating different points of view\u201d.<\/p>\n
