{"id":4315,"date":"2020-06-05T09:15:39","date_gmt":"2020-06-05T13:15:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amablog.modelaircraft.org\/amagov\/?p=4315"},"modified":"2020-06-09T08:21:36","modified_gmt":"2020-06-09T12:21:36","slug":"remote-id-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amablog.modelaircraft.org\/amagov\/2020\/06\/05\/remote-id-progress\/","title":{"rendered":"Remote ID Progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The AMA Government Affairs team continues to work toward advocating for a more-inclusive solution\u00a0to Remote ID.<\/p>\n<p>AMA\u00a0has been\u00a0providing sensible\u00a0recommendations\u00a0for the hobbyist community\u00a0to comply with Remote ID since\u00a0this\u00a0process started in\u00a02017.\u00a0The FAA is currently in the process of reviewing\u00a0more than\u00a050,000\u00a0comments that were submitted to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM). We were told that\u00a0the\u00a0recreational community had a large impact during the comment period\u00a0and there were many\u00a0identified issues with the rule that will need better solutions, which include cost, broadcast abilities,\u00a0and FAA Recognized Identification Areas.<\/p>\n<p>Through this process,\u00a0AMA has been collaborating\u00a0with various security agencies, industry leaders,\u00a0the\u00a0DOT,\u00a0and others\u00a0to work toward finding a common solution.\u00a0We believe that the FAA plans to announce a final Remote ID rule by the end of the calendar year.\u00a0After\u00a0a final rule\u00a0has been\u00a0announced, there will be an implementation period\u00a0that\u00a0could take up to three years.\u00a0This lengthy process allows AMA to continue advocating for a\u00a0less-extensive\u00a0solution\u00a0for hobbyists to comply with Remote ID.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amablog-modelaircraft-org.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/AMA-RemoteID-June4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4316 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/amablog-modelaircraft-org.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/AMA-RemoteID-June4-300x157.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"514\" height=\"269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amablog-modelaircraft-org.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/AMA-RemoteID-June4-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/amablog-modelaircraft-org.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/AMA-RemoteID-June4-768x402.png 768w, https:\/\/amablog-modelaircraft-org.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/AMA-RemoteID-June4-1024x536.png 1024w, https:\/\/amablog-modelaircraft-org.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/AMA-RemoteID-June4-999x523.png 999w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 514px) 100vw, 514px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The AMA Government Affairs team continues to work toward advocating for a more-inclusive solution\u00a0to Remote ID.
