{"id":3967,"date":"2019-06-06T09:49:49","date_gmt":"2019-06-06T13:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amablog.modelaircraft.org\/amagov\/?p=3967"},"modified":"2019-06-11T08:44:50","modified_gmt":"2019-06-11T12:44:50","slug":"faa-begins-letter-of-agreement-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amablog.modelaircraft.org\/amagov\/2019\/06\/06\/faa-begins-letter-of-agreement-process\/","title":{"rendered":"FAA Begins Letter of Agreement Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 requires all flying sites within controlled airspace to have a\u202fletter of agreement (LOA)\u202fwith\u202fair traffic control (ATC)\u202ffacilities.\u202fAMA is working directly\u202fwith the FAA to prioritize this work and ensure\u202fthat\u202fyou have the protections you need to continue to fly.\u202fHowever, we need some additional information\u202fto accomplish this.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, emails have been sent to club officers to ensure correct completion of an FAA questionnaire to obtain the information needed\u202ffor this LOA. Multiple submissions for the same flying site will delay the process of an LOA, so the email was sent only to club officers to coordinate this effort.<\/p>\n<p>If your questionnaire is not submitted to AMA by\u202fSunday, June 16, 2019, your flying site in controlled airspace my be impacted.<\/p>\n<p>The FAA plans to have an airspace authorization system (LAANC) for recreational flights operational later this summer. Until then, the only path to fly legally in controlled airspace is at a flying site with an LOA in place.
