Countless negotiations, revisions, and eventually mobilizing our membership to write Congress resulted in this special rule becoming law.  The Special Rule for Model Aircraft was intended to prevent model aviation within a community-based organization like the AMA from overreaching and burdensome regulation.<\/p>\n<p>Today we continue our work to strengthen and protect the Special Rule for Model Aircraft.   We are very early in this process as early drafts will receive numerous revisions and amendments, just as we experienced with the original special rule.<\/p>\n<p>In an effort to help visualize the process, below is a graphic that demonstrates the legislative process and AMA&#8217;s ongoing efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Currently we are only in the first leg of this journey as proposed language is in the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Senate Commerce Committee.
