{"id":2600,"date":"2015-07-02T15:45:20","date_gmt":"2015-07-02T19:45:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amablog.modelaircraft.org\/amagov\/?p=2600"},"modified":"2015-07-02T15:45:20","modified_gmt":"2015-07-02T19:45:20","slug":"faa-washington-dc-is-a-no-drone-zone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amablog.modelaircraft.org\/amagov\/2015\/07\/02\/faa-washington-dc-is-a-no-drone-zone\/","title":{"rendered":"FAA: Washington DC is a NO DRONE ZONE"},"content":{"rendered":"<table cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"td1\" valign=\"middle\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>June 30<\/b>&#8211; As the July 4 holiday approaches, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is reminding residents and visitors to Washington, D.C. that the city and surrounding communities are a \u201cNo Drone Zone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The prohibition against flying any type of unmanned aircraft, or \u201cdrone,\u201d without specific approval includes the District of Columbia and cities and towns within a 15-mile radius of Ronald-Reagan Washington National Airport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The FAA is conducting the \u201cNo Drone Zone\u201d campaign so visitors and residents thoroughly understand that operating an unmanned aircraft in this area for any purpose is against the law.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The airspace around Washington, D.C. is more restricted than in any other part of the country. Rules put in place after the 9\/11 attacks establish \u201cnational defense airspace\u201d over the area and limit aircraft operations to those with an FAA and Transportation Security Administration authorization. Violators face stiff fines and criminal penalties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">So if you\u2019re in the Washington, DC area for the Fourth, enjoy the holiday.
