{"id":2318,"date":"2014-10-14T20:49:26","date_gmt":"2014-10-14T20:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amablog.modelaircraft.org\/amagov\/?p=2318"},"modified":"2014-10-15T14:03:25","modified_gmt":"2014-10-15T14:03:25","slug":"ac-91-57-cancelled-in-error","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amablog.modelaircraft.org\/amagov\/2014\/10\/14\/ac-91-57-cancelled-in-error\/","title":{"rendered":"AC 91-57 Cancelled in Error"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.modelaircraft.org\/gov\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2328 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/amablog-modelaircraft-org.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/10\/gov-tall-logo-150x150.gif\" alt=\"gov-tall-logo\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, Oct 10th, it was announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/documentLibrary\/media\/Advisory_Circular\/91-57.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">FAA\u00a0Advisory Circular 91-57<\/a>, &#8220;Model Aircraft Operating Standards&#8221;, published in 1981 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/regulations_policies\/advisory_circulars\/index.cfm\/go\/document.information\/documentid\/22425\" target=\"_blank\">cancelled<\/a>. \u00a0This obviously caught the aeromodeling and sUAS community by surprise and left a lot of unanswered questions.<\/p>\n<p>In a communication earlier today with Jim Williams, Executive Manager of the FAA UAS Integration Office, it was learned that the announcement was premature and the cancellation notice on the FAA webpage was posted in error.<\/p>\n<p>FAA does plan to cancel AC 91-57 in order to reconcile the outdated AC with current sUAS policy and the &#8220;Special Rule for Model Aircraft&#8221; provided by Congress as part of the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012.
