Bremen Hobbies In-Store Build Series
During the summer of 2014, Chuck Hamilton approached us to establish a series of kit building projects in the store. After some discussion with Chuck and Lee Watkins, this in-store kit build project could be used to introduce or reintroduce modelers to building a radio controlled airplane from a kit. Chuck and Lee are prolific builders and flyers of giant scale aircraft, and are very active in the Warbirds and Classics
Series of gatherings across a several state area. With the proliferation of ARF aircraft and “Foamies” building an R/C aircraft has become an almost lost art. We thought this in-store build series would attract attention and return some of our friends to the building table. To this end, over the past two winters, Chuck and Lee framed up two 1/3 scale Balsa USA Fokker DrI triplane kits. In addition to the Saturday build sessions. Bremen Hobbies has hosted seminars, presented by Chuck and Lee, covering building techniques including soldering, fiberglassing, etc. This winter, the in-store build series evolved into a new project with the intent of giving back a bit more to the R/C community through the AMA Scholarship Fund. Bremen Hobbies, together with BalsaUSA, sponsors the Silent Action.
