AMA Foundation Sale Raises Nearly $5,000

The AMA Foundation would like to thank everyone who visited the multi-collection sale hosted during the Toledo Weak Signals R/C Expo.Through your support the AMA Foundation raised nearly $5,000 for AMA programs. We would also like to thank the families of Carl Goldberg, Don Tichenor, and Joseph Elgin for donating items from their loved one’s estates, as well as Edward Sweeney for donating part of his model collection for the sale. Several people took home special pieces from these collections, including Carl Goldberg’s Skylark Twin (pictured below).

Several current donors visited the room looking for deals and looking to learn more about the AMA Foundation. “ This is one of my favorite ways to raise awareness for the AMA Foundation because we are able to honor a donor by sharing their story while finding new homes for their model airplane collections,” said Mandee Mikulski, Director of Development for the AMA Foundation. “It’s always wonderful to see current donors and members interested in learning more about how they can support the organization and hobby they love,” she said.

Basil Cooper

We love to see Basil P. Cooper, JR. (AL) at the different shows throughout the year. It was cold enough for him to wear his AMA Foundation Heritage Society bomber jacket. Thank you to Basil for making another generous donation towards the Basil and Dorothy Cooper Memorial Scholarship, started in 2013 to provide scholarships to AMA members already enrolled in college courses.
